New version of Minarca

Enhancements and new features!

New version!

We're delighted to announce the latest update to Minarca, which brings significant improvements in terms of ergonomics, functionality and compatibility. This version makes it even easier to back up and restore your data, while improving documentation and translations.

Updated documentation

Thanks to user feedback, the documentation has been updated to clarify several installation steps. These improvements make Minarca deployment easier and more accessible. Consult the updated documentation here : Minarca Documentation.

French translation update

The French translation has been improved for better readability. If you would like to contribute to other translations, please contact the development team at GitLab or on Google Group. All help is welcome!

Compatibility with Debian Trixie

This new version now enables Minarca client and server to be installed on Debian Trixie, scheduled for release before the end of 2025.

Server-side enhancements

Improved restoration process

The web interface has been optimized to make file restoration more intuitive. A new page is now displayed during the restore process, clearly indicating that the download is about to begin. This improvement is particularly useful for repositories with a history of over 5 years, preventing users from waiting without indication or clicking repeatedly on the same file.

Clearer notifications

Emails sent to users with inactive backups have been reworked for better understanding and more effective follow-up.

Interface and ergonomics improvements

The user interface has been adjusted for improved readability and simplified navigation. Several improvements have been made, including clarification of labels, more precise display of parameters and correction of file statistics. These adjustments make Minarca more intuitive and pleasant to use.

API documentation

Minarca now offers interactive API documentation. Developers can easily explore and test the various queries available, facilitating integration with other systems.

Client-side enhancements

Simplified restoration

The restoration process via the graphical interface has been redesigned for greater simplicity. Users can now select the files or folders to be restored using checkboxes, facilitating selective data recovery.

Minarca Restore

Execute commands before or after backup

It is now possible to configure commands to be executed before or after the backup process. This feature is particularly useful for databases: you can, for example, automate a SQL dump before saving the generated files.

Improved error handling

Every error and exception now has a unique code, documented with detailed explanations. This enhancement enables better diagnosis of problems and facilitates their resolution by the support team or advanced users.

Consult the updated error list here : Minarca Documentation.

Corrections and optimizations

  • Windows : Correction of the task scheduler to ensure that backups run even when the computer is running on battery power.
  • Linux & macOS : Fixed a problem where openssh-client system configuration could interfere with Minarca.
