10th anniversary of Minarca

November 15, 2014 marks an important date for Minarca: the day the first lines of code were written. At the time, the objective was simple: to create a reliable, secure and easy-to-use backup solution, specifically designed to meet the needs of my customers at the time, i.e. small and medium-sized businesses. Today, ten years later, Minarca has become a key player in the data backup field, with advanced features and a user interface redesigned to deliver the best possible experience.

A brief history of Minarca

The idea for Minarca came from a simple observation: there was no open-source backup solution that was both powerful and easy to deploy for SMEs. From the outset, we wanted to create a tool that didn't require advanced technical knowledge, yet was flexible enough for IT professionals. Development began in 2014, with a focus on efficiency and robustness.

Initially, Minarca was a simple interface for rdiff-backup, but over time it has evolved into a complete solution with advanced features such as support for multiple backup configurations and partial or full file restoration.

Early versions were never popularized. Development began as a hobby. Over the years, we have continued to add key features such as partial file restore, multi-tenant support, and of course, backup to multiple destinations with the latest version of Minarca.

Today, with Minarca version 6, we celebrate a decade of innovation, continuous improvement and collaboration with our community. We remain true to our original vision, while continuing to innovate to meet the modern needs of our users.

Looking ahead

As we celebrate this milestone, we're also looking to the future. We have exciting plans to continue improving Minarca, with a focus on automation, performance, and user experience. Thanks to all our users for their continued support over the past ten years, and we look forward to seeing what the next decade will bring for Minarca.
